Create Maintenance Windows
Create one‑time or recurring maintenance windows and scope them to monitors.
Plan and communicate expected downtime or reduced performance without triggering unnecessary incident noise.
Steps
- Open Maintenance > Create.
- Choose window type: One‑Time or Recurring.
- Enter a clear title (“Database Cluster Upgrade”).
- (Optional) Add a user‑friendly description of impact.
- Pick affected monitors OR select “All monitors”.
- Set schedule:
- One‑Time: Start & End date/time.
- Recurring: Days of week + daily start/end time (UTC/local as displayed).
- Enable immediately or leave disabled as a draft.
- Save.
Choosing Window Type
Type | Use When |
---|---|
One‑Time | Unique migration or emergency fix |
Recurring | Regular patch cycles (weekly/monthly) |
Best Practices
- Keep titles consistent: “Weekly Patching – Region EU”.
- Limit scope to only impacted monitors when possible.
- Schedule well ahead so subscribers can plan.
- End times should be realistic—avoid large safety buffers that hide real overruns.
Avoid Overuse
If you rely on maintenance windows to mask frequent unplanned issues, re‑evaluate whether those should be incidents instead.
